Preventable mishaps drain resources and negatively affect readiness. Statistical evidence for VPP's success is impressive. According to OSHA, the average VPP worksite reports a lost work day rate that is 52% below the average for its industry. The Department of Energy (DOE), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and other federal agencies implemented VPP at various locations with impressive results. Within DOE's Star sites, lost work days from first quarter of 1995 through second quarter of 2004 indicate they are not only below other DOE complex sites rates, but are 50% to 75% below. Not only does VPP improve safety... it improves your bottom line.

Bluelinx reduces insurance costs because of VPP

However, I can tell you that as a corporation, we made the case with our insurance underwriters that due to our safety programs and loss runs, our company's insurance cost should be reduced. The underwriters agreed, and reduced our total cost by $1 million.
