OSHA's new PSM National Emphasis Program for chemical facilities (Chem NEP) is now in effect, which means that certain facilities could be subject to new inspections.

The program officially began November 30th in all regions nationwide, effective immediately without expiration, after having been piloted in certain test regions. The new inspections come with new requirements, such as more documentation or changes in applicable facilities. States are required to participate in the program, which is why it is important that facility managers and others involved be aware of the changes brought on by the program.

EHS today has an excellent write-up on the new NEP and breaks down the major changes of which folks should be aware.
